Yes as of April 1, the Indians are tied with Minnesota and Kansas City for first in the AL Central. Any list that includes the Royals in first place means just one thing — there still are 161 games left! Just wait until September, when Detroit's mashers have wore down the division and the Tigers' bullpen issues are shored up...
Two games in and "oh" and 2 for the Tigs for those interested. Faustoa Carmona in my starting rotation, priceless.
So now at 0-6, we've seen the Tigers starters. There have been some close games, including the April 6 13-2 loss against the White Sox. Close? Well if the bats performed the way they were expected ...
What I'll be up front about is that Cleveland, at 3-3, doesn't give me A LOT to brag about. Anybody switching allegiances to the KC Royals?
I hope you're right Speer. I am just glad there are still 155 games to go. It hasn't been pretty so far, but maybe this shows how important Granderson is.
So now Granderson is going to pitch relief? It's crazy how upside-down most of the divisions are right now. I'm not even pretending to boast too much as an Indians fan right now with their record at 4-5. I believe there's more parity among the AL teams, sure, but not so much that Baltimore and KC should lead their divisions.
Granderson might be called on to pitch relief. Who do you want closing your games out, Todd Jones or Curtis Granderson, that's what I thought.
But seriously, I think the Tigers and Indians are going to play in the World Series (I know they're both in the AL) when they fight it out in the ALCS. The NL is a joke outside of the Mets coming on possibly.
They (Indians and Tigers) both need to settle down or they'll be left playing for rights to the cellar. Last night's game was nice to see ... if you're me. Maybe Cleveland should consider not fighting for Sabathia next year in favor of spending his money on a couple of worthwhile prospects. Not to concede this year's race already ...
So let's talk NBA playoffs. The Cavs smoked the Wizards last night. How is it the Pistons lost to the Sixers exactly?
In the world of upside-down land, the AL Central has now almost returned to a semblance of normal. True, and it pains me to say, the Tigers aren't where they should be, but at least the Indians are in second place. OK, they're still a game below .500. This must be what the N.L. west feels like year after year.
Go Cleveland!
Let's talk NBA playoffs instead of early season baseball (plus I'm a Tigers fan so it angers me to talk about baseball). The Cavs and Celts play game 6 tonight and I think whichever team decides to win a road game will end up playing Detroit. The Pistons got an absolutely great spot in the playoffs having to play the poor Sixers and the overpaid Magic, not to mention just being in the East this year. The West is a real crapshoot because the winner of SA-NO will probably play LA and any of those teams could come out of the West very easily. How many more Eastern conference championships can this group of Pistons still win? 2 maybe 3 max? Lemme know. Go Stones!!
