Saturday morning treated me just fine. Regardless of the cold air and strong breeze (and me wearing a t-shirt and waders), I still had a blast catching some sub-legal brook trout in the AuSable headwaters.
And I didn't rake until Sunday night.
I also got a chance to visit the Grayling fire area when I wandered back onto southbound I-75 while enjoying some McDonald's breakfast. Saw some smoke, too, coming from a charred log. If you haven't been down there, try to make the trip. It puts everything into perspective how a little accident (or carelessness) can cause a lot of damage.
Saturday night was spent walking the pooch with friends in downtown Petoskey, where the destruction caused by road crews is almost equal that from the Grayling fire!
Anyway, how'd everyone fare opening weekend? It sure wasn't the sunny, warm weekend I was expecting, but it kept the fair-weather anglers away.

Well my chain saw quit running so i only stacked wood no cutting untill the new saw gets here.
At the high power rifle match at the northland sportsmen's club i took first place in the marksman class shooting a 432-5x score.
If i shoot 4 more matches at that level or better i will move up to the sharpshooters class.
